As you can see, three years out of the five year production run of the Mustang IIs are represented in the Top 10 Selling Mustang list.

The 1974, 1975 and 1978 model years have outsold every Mustang since 1980.

The only "modern" Mustang to outsell the 1974 Mustang II was the 1979 Mustang which was the first year for the "fox body" platform.

Considering the time that the Mustang II was built, with the economy as bad as it was, the smaller style Mustang II was a big attraction.
