Car of the Month - September 2003
Bob Wells' 77 Cobra II

I'm from Northern New York. This baby's been in the family since Nov. 1976.

Its sticker said "$5,200", my brother bought it for $4800 New.

I bought it from him in March 1984. It's body has been REALLY restored by an artist named of Casey Barr (Ogdensburg, NY). The man took a solid old car with quite a bit of dry rot (quarters and rear end epecially) and made it show room clean and straight! The top stripes are painted flush and the side stripes and Cobra are vinyl. What a fabulous job Casey did. I can't thank him enough!

It's got a newly rebuilt (original motor) 302 V8, built by Paul Dyke (Knapp Station, NY). Paul's an excellent mechanic and specializes in Ford motors. He bored it out slightly and I put new The odometer reads 00251 original miles! That's 100,251 to be exact.

It was entered into only 2 local shows last summer and took home 1st place in its class (1974 to present) in one and "People's Choice" 2nd place (of 2) in the other (out of 50 to 60 cars). It turns lots of heads. Most of the Mustang II's ended up in graveyards. Too bad...

Plenty of sentimental value...it would be tough to part with.

But I've always been partial to a dreamy 69 Shelby convertible (w/ roll bar, midnight blue paint and white stripes)! Know anyone that has one for sale?
