Tim Viscioni's 78 Mustang II

I got my first Mustang II back in 1987. Had it for about 2 years and sold it. Since then I've had a number of Fox Body Stangs. Although they're nice, they certainly couldn't fill the void left by my 78.

Three years ago I started looking for the perfect II. This time it would be a keeper and I would set it up the way I wanted. After a year of looking and a few long road trips that came up empty, I found the perfect II. 1978 Mustang II V-8.

I worked on it for two years and did all the work myself. Almost all the parts are new. After alot of time and money spent, this is my finished product, and this one I'll never sell...

Ford Racing 347 Stroker short block, Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, Comp Cams 274 Extreme cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and 750 Carb, MSD Ignition, Dynomax blackjack headers (very hard to find...ebay), 2 1/2 inch Flowmaster Exhaust, TCI Streetfighter C-4 Trans, 3000 Stall Converter. The engine runs about 10.6/1 compression, which takes 93 octane pump gas.

I swapped the rear end for a 8.8 inch rear from a 95 Ranger. (Fox Body Stangs have the same rear end) Featuring 31 spline Strange axles with a 5 lug bolt pattern, and 3.73 posi gears. Finish it off with a set of Stumpy's Traction Bars and Frame Connectors.

The paint is Dupont Chromalusion Blue Steel and the wheels are American Racing Chrome Torq-Thrust D.

The unique qualities of the Mustang II are what I like best. It may be a little under appreciated but if everyone owned a Mustang II, perhaps some of those unique qualities would be diminished.

Special thanks to my wife Noreen for all her support and encouragement.
