Hi all. I'm in the process of replacing the cam (plastic) and crank gears on Grandma's 74 coupe (2.8 V6).

I'm having problems removing the crank pulley (hub). I removed the center bolt, main pulleys and reinstalled the harmonic balancer with the four bolts so I have something to install the puller on. I have a three jaw puller on the hub with alot of tension and no luck. The haynes manual says the hub is keyed so there really shouldn't be a tight press fit.

Any tricks of the trade getting this off?

When you reinstalled the center bolt did you remove the washer so the bolt can go through the center. I have seen this done before this may be your broblem .

while you have tension on puller use a hammer and some safty glasses and tap on puller in the center might shock it off.be careful not to bogger up crank threads that would hurt.tap the front like in this illustration good luck

I got the pulley and hub off. I just needed a better puller. Thanks for the advice.
