Leigh & Heather Prosho's 1976 Coupe
|
This is my '76 Coupe. Its a 2.8 V6, 4 speed manual, 3.40:1 Traction Loc rear
axle, that appears to be stock (mechanically at least!)
I'm a UK resident and I bought the car in May 2001 (my first American car!). As far as I have been able to determine, there have been 3 prior owners in the UK since it was Imported from Belgium in the '80's. It appears that it was originally built in Dearborn specifically for the export market - which would explain its presence in Belgium! When I bought it the car had been used as a daily driver for 5 years (not a good thing on UK roads!) and the body is just starting to show signs of rust - although not a lot of it (thankfully, only minor welding to be done, although pretty much all in awkward areas). The unusual colour is Ford Amythyst - the same colour as used on the Ford Escort Cabrio in the late 80's. It was originally Medium Gold Metallic. I drove her around for 6 months (with a huge stupid grin on my face!) until she failed the MOT (UK roadworthiness test) on a couple of minor things, but decided then that it was the time to pull her to bits and sort all the problems out. Plans: Repair the bodywork (no bondo!!) Respray in Gold (Undecided on Ford Arizona Gold, or VW Sand Metallic) Rebuild / recondition engine & trans Reupholster seats back to original design. Install a decent ICE system. More detailed info can be found on my homepage, under CARS: http://www.kryten2x4b.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
