- Power Front Disc/Rear Drum Brakes.
- Power Steering. Only a few high priced European cars offer rack-and-pinion-type power steering. Mustang joins this select group with its power steering option. The compact driven pump is connected to the steering gear housing with two short hoses. With an overall steering ration of 18 to 1, there is low effort and fast response to steering wheel movement.
- Limited-Slip Differential. Available in the standard 3.55 to 1 ratio, this option provides additional rear-wheel traction in mud and snow.
- Competition Suspension. Heavy-duty front and rear springs, adjustable front and rear shock absorbers and a rear stabilzer bar are included in this handling package. Each shock absorber can be adjusted manually, and permits regulation of the difference between jounce and rebound control to tune the suspension for different road conditions. The rear stabilzer bar assists in providing a more flat vehicle attitude during cornering, without restorting to extremely high spring rates which cause a harsh ride.
- Rallye Package. Both performance and appearance items distiguish this sport-oriented option. It includes competition suspension, extra cooling package, sport exhaust with bright tips, BR70 wide oval steel-belted radial-ply tires with raised white letters, limited-slip differential, digital clock, remote control left and right hand color-keyed mirrors, styled steel wheels with trim rings, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The V-6 engine is required.
- California Emission Package. Designed to meet the more stringent California emission standards, this package is required on all vehicles registered for sale in California.
