ENERGY-ABSORBING FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS
Mustang's energy- absorbing front and rear steel bumpers are covered with thick and resilient body-colored urethane. A full-width reinforcement is behind the bumper. This assembly is coupled to the body structure through energy-absorbing devices known as Poly-Gel Mitigators. Both front and rear bumpers are designed to meet the 1974 bumper impact standards.
OCCUPANT RESTRAINT/STARTER INTERLOCK SYSTEM
Front seat belts in the Mustang II are of a new type in which the lap belt and the shoulder belt are combined into a single unit. A new starter interlock system also is combined with the front seat belt system.
