MUSTANG II design features

The fenders curve gently rearward, with the accent line terminating at the door center. Sporty full wheel openings, both front and rear, are accented with bright wheel-lip moldings. A bright die-cast Mustang II ornament is displayed on the front fenders.
Front and rear side marker lights are contained in bright die-cast bezels, a rich effect used on luxury cars. Door handles are semi-flush.
Stainless steel full wheel covers are standard on all models except the three-door 2+2 and Mach 1. On these, the more sporty styled steel wheels are standard. On Mach 1, bright trim rings also are included.
The most prominent feature of the rear end is the large three-pod taillights with a European-type center amber turn signal lens. This feature is offered on no other Ford Division car in 1974. Like the front bumper, the rear also is covered with urethane in body color and trimmed with a bright, full-width, horizontal strip.
A bright die-cast Mustang II ornament is located on the right hand corner of the deck lid.

THREE-DOOR DESIGN

The roof line of the Mustang II three-door model flows smoothly rearward in a sporty fastback style, imparting an exceptionally low look to the car. The low look is further emphasized by the ventless window glass and the acute slant of the windshield. Bright moldings are used around windshield and rear window, around all side windows and on the thin center pillar above the beltline. The third door which includes the rear window and deck lid is attached to the roof with hidden hinges. Gas-filled cylinder devices assist opening and keep the door in the full-open position.
